Needle and Thread
I can sew small dreams into your veins
Sights of flying skies and model trains
Claiming single twinkling stars
That can be yours and always ours
I can hear your voice in the walls
Michael’s speaking from down the hall
About a love that died just as he was born
How things have mended and still are torn
I can string up the stars upon the night
Remove my eyes and still have sight
A lamp that flickers in the distant field
Was once my brother of taller build
I can try to build these castles high
Even if my enemies could learn to fly
A sword and shield we’d forever fight
Against a common foe we’d be the light
I can hear a train amongst the stars
His shining eyes that unlock the dark
The universe filled up to the brim with right
A dream awake in the darkest night.
